Vision & Mission

With today’s technology, it is easier than ever to generate energy on a large scale, and to democratize this generation so that anyone who wishes to generate it can do so. By combining Cardano’s blockchain, with large-scale, clean solar power generation systems in an optimal location, ADA Solar is democratizing energy!

Their motto is summarized as “Cardano decentralizes finance, ADA Solar decentralizes energy generation”.

What is ADA Solar?

ADA Solar Logo

ADA SOLAR is an environmentally conscious project that aims to democratize solar energy. Through ADA SOLAR online platform, any individual or company in the world will be able to invest in solar PV power by acquiring a certain amount of electricity of the Solar Farm. This first solar farm using the Cardano blockchain will be built in Argentina, specifically in San Juan (called “the land of the Sun”), one of the highest solar radiation areas in the world. It will be developed in an initial phase of 5 MW with the possibility of expansion in successive expansion rounds.

Why did they start ADA Solar?

“When we started the challenge of building the first physical pool (bare metal) of Cardano in Latin America, we knew it would not be easy, since the infrastructure needed to function properly was not available at that time, so we had to design and build it; and we did not want to take the easy way (build a pool in Cloud, which would eventually end up concentrated in one of the 5 major Cloud providers and that could generate future problems for Cardano as now with the merge Ethereum is experiencing with the SEC in USA).

We took the challenge working with an international team, with members from Taiwan, Australia and Argentina, and we received incredible support from the Cardano Foundation and the community, which pushed us to continue working in a coherent way with our philosophy of life: to build a sustainable system that uses theavailable resources in a responsible way, since according to our understanding, the current resources are borrowed by future generations, and we must make a responsible use of them. For these reasons, and because of the experience with similar projects successfully executed, added to the discovery of the land of the sun, the province of San Juan in Argentina (so called because of its excellent level of solar radiation), with its optimal conditions for the deployment of Cardano’s first decentralized solar park, we decided tocarry out the first step in this great project: The research to determine the feasibility of the project.

The research was part of a project funded by the Catalyst community, with such extraordinary support as we received from the governmental agencies in charge of energy in Argentina, which led us to move forward to the point where we are today: The proposal in Catalyst of the creation of the ADA Solar platform, which will allow investors from around the world to participate collaboratively in the creation of decentralized solar park”.  – Jose Iadicco (Co-founderand Manager of ADA Solar)

What challenges/problems are they encountering that blockchain and other related technologies are helping to solve?

The main problem that blockchain solves is the possibility of providing collaborative participation to people around the world, in an agile, fast, transparent and infinitely more efficient and economical way (critical points for a project that seeks to use resources responsibly).

Why Cardano?

“We have been part of Cardano since its beginnings, in fact since 2018 we give free and open talks in NGOs and private companies spreading the holistic vision of Cardano’s blockchain. We believe thatevery human creation, should be just like nature, one more instrument in the great symphony of life, and therefore accompany the melody in a harmonic way, and Cardano using responsibly the energetic and financial resources is doing it, added to its absolute transparency in the development, with all its public academic papers.”  Kehua Yang (Co-founder and Community Managerof ADA Solar)

Team Behind It All

ADA Solar Team

I currently serve as CEO of ADA Solar, after more than 20 years of experience in projects related to energy, infrastructure and telecommunications. In relation to Cardano, I am part of the international team that created the first physical pool in Latin America (ONE1) (https://adapool.one) and we are the team behind Cardano Summit 2021 and 2022 Co Organization in Argentina (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N4zK7tHSqI)”. – Jose Iadicco (Co-founder and Manager of ADA Solar)

Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable Development Goals

Listed below are the SDGs that can be identified with ADA Solar’s project and its mission (a small note of clarification is added in each point).

SDG goals:

  • SDG 1 End poverty in all its forms everywhere.

Solar energy represents a tangible form of employment for many sectors of society with the consequent reduction of poverty, mainly related to the creation of new jobs.

  • SDG 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Solar energy is a clean energy par excellence and represents a way to reduce global pollution. We believe Solar is the most affordable energy source on the planet. Using solar energy we can make a easier our life on this earth

  • SDG 7 Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

Through Cardano’s green blockchain, we exponentially accelerate deployment times for Solar Energy Generation Systems, providing economic benefits to investors around the world while helping to transition to a 100% green economy.

  • SDG 8 Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

By enhancing this renewable energy source, the energy supply is increased, allowing more and better energy for the whole society. ADA Solar will enable a wide range of investors to participate, boosting regional economies through the blockchain, around the world.

  • SDG 10 Reduce inequality within and among countries.

By combining Cardano’s blockchain, with large-scale, clean solar power generation systems in an optimal location, ADA Solar is democratizing energy.

  • SDG 11 Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
  • SDG 12 Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
  • SDG 13 Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

The growth of an energy matrix through a pro-green path allows cities and communities to have access to better development possibilities: increasing investments and productivity and improving the quality of life, while reducing inequality gaps between regions.

SDG subgoals:

ADA Solar Subgoals

By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.

Ensure significant mobilization of resources from a variety of sources, including through enhanced development cooperation, in order to provide adequate and predictable means for developing countries, in particular least developed countries, to implement programmes and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions.

By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

Key challenges in the blockchain space ADA Solar plans to solve

The main challenges have to do with the acceptance of these new paradigms by society, so our focus has to do mainly with education, to help people understand why we do what we do.

Education at the core

As they stated, this project bets strongly on the education of the community, since it is through education that individuals and human groups can be empowered. This is how they have been carrying out different educational actions in LATAM, especially in Argentina, such as the organization of the first Cardano Hackathon in Argentina with the presence of Dr. Lars Brünjes. You can find out more at this link.

In addition to the above, ADA Solar and its team were chosen for the second consecutive year to host the Cardano Summit 2022 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here you can watch a short summary of the event.
